Central Ohio: Columbus and the farm counties

Central Ohio runs on propane once you leave the metro gas mains. The land flattens out into some of the best farm ground in the state — Union, Madison, and Delaware Counties — and the fuel pattern follows the farm pattern: big tanks, long driveways, grain dryers that drink propane hard for a few weeks every fall. In Columbus itself, delivered fuel is the exception rather than the rule, which is why the companies serving the area tend to be established propane dealers with real bulk plants, not storefronts. Delivery here is easy driving and long distances: routes are measured in miles between stops, not stops per mile, and a company that plans its routes well matters more than one that's merely close.
